Currently, we offer Digital Gift Cards (also referred to as “eGIft Cards”) here for any value up to a maximum of $500 per card. Total purchases by any one individual may not exceed ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00) in one calendar day.

We may expand our offering to physical gift cards in the future.

Newly purchased Digital Gift Cards are distributed by CashStar Inc., a Delaware corporation. CashStar is a Blackhawk Network business specializing in digital gifting.

Simply personalize the Digital Gift Card for your recipient, have it sent to yourself and then print it. Go to the "For Me" tab underneath "Who is the gift card for". Your Digital Gift Card will be sent to the email address entered on the Payment Page. Enter your recipient's name and your personal message on the Digital Gift Card messages page and complete the transaction normally. You will receive a Digital Gift Card alert via email. Follow the instructions in this message to retrieve your Digital Gift Card and then choose "Click to print this page." The resulting printout may be presented as a gift to the recipient. Make sure the card number prints clearly, as that is what they will need to use their Digital Gift Card. Anyone with this printout or card number can use the Digital Gift Card for qualifying Rent the Runway purchases, so treat it as carefully as cash!

Digital Gift Cards may be applied toward one-time Reserve rentals, purchases of clothing (excluding membership items already at home), and the first month only of subscription membership fees for newly activated RTR subscriptions.

For example, this means that Digital Gift Cards may not be used for recurring subscription fees (including pause with items, membership reactivations from pause, additional spots and shipments or plan upgrades), purchases of membership items that are already at home, in-person styling appointments, or purchases at Rent the Runway physical locations at this time.

Digital Gift Cards are not redeemable or exchangeable for cash (except as required by law).

Any refunds of items purchased with Digital Gift Cards are subject to our Return Policy generally and will be made in the form of merchandise credits – funds will not be returned to the Digital Gift Card.

You can use your Digital Gift Card on Rent the Runway’s website and mobile application for one-time Reserve orders, purchases (excluding membership items already at home), and the first month only of newly activated subscription fee payments.

Please note that the balance you see when viewing Digital Gift Card balances online is an estimate only. In most cases, the balance is adjusted immediately when you make a purchase, but there may be occasions when the updated balance is delayed for a period of time.

No. You will only be charged the face value of the Digital Gift Card plus any required sales tax. There are no shipping or processing fees for Digital Gift Card purchases.

If you wish to add a personal message to a Digital Gift Card Card, simply type your message in the Message field during the purchase process. Personal messages are limited in length to the space provided on the Digital Gift Card. If we find inappropriate, offensive or otherwise objectionable messages, we reserve the right to decline the sale or cancel the order at our discretion.

Yes. For example, if you send separate Digital Gift Cards to Aunt Mary and Uncle Jim at their shared email address, they will receive two messages with the subject "[Sender] sent you a Digital Gift Card from Rent the Runway" with your name in place of [Sender]. Within the text of the emails, each message will be addressed to the respective recipient, using the name you entered in the purchase process, for example: "Mary Smith, John Jones sent you a $XX Digital Gift Card from Rent the Runway."

Yes. To do so, go to the "For Me" tab underneath "Who is the gift card for". Your Digital Gift Card will be sent to the email address entered on the Payment Page. When you receive your Digital Gift Card alert via email, follow the instructions in this message to retrieve and redeem your Digital Gift Card.

If your Digital Gift Card has a delivery date in the future and has not been delivered, you can cancel your purchase by contacting Customer Support and receive a refund. If the delivery date is the same day as the purchase date, the same date that you want to cancel or in the past, it cannot be canceled or refunded.

Your Digital Gift Card typically will be sent via email on the delivery date you choose. For same-day delivery, most Digital Gift Cards are typically sent within an hour of the purchase transaction. For future delivery, Digital Gift Cards are typically sent on the morning of the scheduled delivery date. Please see the "Digital Gift Cards" section below for more about Digital Gift Cards.

On the delivery date you choose, an email is sent to the recipient informing them of your gift, with a link to retrieve it online. The link in the email goes to a page showing the Digital Gift Card you created (the design you selected, with your recipient's name and your personalized message), its value and code number. This page also gives simple instructions for redeeming the Digital Gift Card. Sometimes, special offers and promotions are listed on the page. You will receive an email message confirming delivery of the Digital Gift Card. If the Digital Gift Card goes unacknowledged for 15 days after delivery, you will receive a message with options for resolving the issue. You may also contact Customer Support with the order number from the email you received confirming your purchase, and we can help you resolve the issue.

We aim for the successful delivery of all Digital Gift Cards but there is a chance that the email will be treated as spam or the recipient doesn’t notice it in their email inbox. You will receive an email confirming delivery of the Digital Gift Card. If the Digital Gift Card goes unacknowledged for 15 days after delivery, you will receive a message with options for resolving the issue. You or your gift card recipient can always contact Customer Support for help.

You may redeem previously purchased gift cards and check balances the same way as a newly purchased Digital Gift Card (please refer to the other relevant FAQs). These also do not expire.

Your RTR Digital Gift Cards do not expire.

Your credit card is charged at the time of purchase. This purchase should appear on your credit/debit card statement as CS *RENTTHERUNWAY GC.

Your Digital Gift Card has cash value and should be safeguarded as such. Digital Gift Cards will be replaced if lost, stolen, or damaged, but only with proof of purchase and only for the remaining value shown in our records. We are not responsible if your Digital Gift Card is used without your permission. If your Digital Gift Card has not been fully redeemed or has some remaining value, we can cancel the original and issue you a new Digital Gift Card for that value. Please reach out to Customer Support for assistance.

You must safeguard your Digital Gift Card. If someone gains access to your Digital Gift Card and redeems it for the full amount, your copy will have no value. No matter how many copies are made, the value of the Digital Gift Card is tied to the Digital Gift Card number. When that number is used for an order, the value of the order is deducted from the Digital Gift Card. If you suspect that someone has copied or stolen your Digital Gift Card, contact Customer Support immediately.
