Loved this dress. One of my favorite rentals to date. Simple with a twist. Fit true to size, but I knew it would be form-fitting. The slit is higher than I expected, but it worked. Rent it!

Rented this for a wedding. I was scared the black color would be boring but the dress itself is very Sophia Ares and elegant. It's heavy material so great for fall weddings. The top and waist area is a little snug but stretches a bit.

Sorry for the type on the picture - this is the only picture I had of this dress. But I think these reviews are so helpful that I'm posting it anyway. The dress is flattering - the material is stretchy and has a slight texture to it. I would say that this dress probably looks better on girls who are 5'6" and above because it's pretty long, and you want the cut-out to hit in the right place. 

I read other people's advice to order the dress 2 sizes up, and the only size that was available for the weekend I wanted the dress was 2 sizes up from the 4 I typically wear, so I ordered the 8. It was a tiny bit too big, but hardly noticeable to anyone I was with. Overall, I agree that going 1-2 sizes bugger is the right call. Otherwise, this dress is amazing! If you have a smaller waist, with a big butt and thighs like I do, this dress is your friend!

I want this dress in every color! It's amazing. It's thick and flattering! I have short legs and would have liked it a little shorter but I am 5'7. 

Great dress, tons of compliments! Also, so very comfortable! The material is textured and very stretchy but still holds you in. As with any Elizabeth and James, recommend sizing up at least a size. 

Thick fabric, so every body contour doesn't show. Order one size up. Some girls recommended two sizes up, but I felt the +2 was too roomy. The slit stayed put, and I never had to adjust it the whole night. 

Loved this dress! I wore this to a NYE wedding. Super comfy and stretchy, but does run small. My normal size is an 8 and I wore a 12. 

I read a lot of the reviews before renting that suggested getting a size up. I'm normally a 4, but the 6 was unavailable for the weekend I needed it. I ordered the 4 and hoped for the best. The dress fit like a glove and the fabric has an appropriate amount of stretch. I have never gotten so many compliments on my outfit in my life. Friends I haven't talked to in months/years were Facebook messaging about where I got it. 100% recommend 

Do not go down a size.  I am usually a 10/12 and I went with the 12, the 10 was out of stock.  I was worried that I didn't have a back up size but it fit perfectly!  It was very comfortable and the slit was a good length... not too short.

Great little dress. Material is thick and helped keep me warm. The material has stretch, but not at the cut-out due to the great stitching and structure. Overall the dress is a little plain, so I suggest adding fun shoes. 

I had read that it runs small, but that wasn't really my experience.   You need to be honest with yourself about your dress size.   I am an 8 who would like to pretend that I'm a 6.   I'm glad I ordered the 8.    It's a tight fitting dress but actually very comfortable.   The side slit makes a bra difficult so I wore a strapless one.    Overall, great dress.   The material is a bit different than the photo makes it look, rather thick and a bit knobby.   Not unpleasant at all, but not what I expected.   

Wore this to a friends wedding. When I first received, I only received a size 8. The fit was way tighter than my comfort zone - I was expecting the size 10 that I had selected at check out for backup but it was not shipped. I called RTR customer service and explained what happened. They were very accommodating, patient, and friendly with their responses. Unfortunately, I was pressed for time (traveled from SC to NYC) to make a last minute decision so I decided to stick with the dress.  I am very glad I did. It is a very sexy fit - with the side slit and high slit on leg- not for the modest! But it is also very classy with the high neckline and black color. Great to dance in- definitely a giving material. Different type of material than you expect! But will definitely be renting from RTR again!

This dress was a great dress to get dolled up for a date night with my husband away from our one-year-old and three-year-old. It was sexy, yet classy. I didn't know until I received it that the fabric was a thicker fabric with texture, but I loved it. This dress is super comfortable and is actually a bit stretchy! I would definitely rent it again!

Wore this for black tie event pre and post parties. It was stretchy (woo!) and fit like a glove. Thanks to previous reviewers for advice to order size up. Usually wear a 4 but 6 was exactly right. 

I'm 5'8 and was worried slit would be too high but it hit at the right place.

Perfection is all I can say about this dress! All Elizabeth and James runs small so always order one size up. 

I was worried based on a few reviews that this dress ran small but it was perfect. The fabric has stretch and fit like a glove. Super comfortable. I am only 5'4 and I thought the length would be weird but with the high slit you need that length. I wore this for an all black affair wedding and it was the perfect mixture of a little black dress with a wow factor. 

The the cut out and slit just enough without being over the top!
