I wanted to love this dress, but it just wasn't my style.

I'm a solid 10, and this is just not cut for curvy folks. Right as heck and the armpits are uncomfortable low cut. Bummed because I wanted to rent this for my wedding... glad I checked it out a year in advance! Would work well for a non-curvy body. Sizing up wouldn't even solve the cut issues for someone mildly curvy.

This dress was perfect for us to new our wedding vows for the 18th time. We like to get creative (all over the states and world) so this one was in the new Star Wars land..the planet Batuu. The dress was a high low. Pretty high in the front so my suggestion is if you are planning to sit at all wear something underneath. I wore black leggings and boots. Perfect for our theme. Overall very comfortable. Back is open so a strapless bra is a must. The front v shape is slightly sheer but not see through. 

I got a 2L because the 2 wasn't available. Dress fit like a glove, the open back detail is gorgeous. 

Dress fit true to size. The top was a little large, but I am very small chested. Fit perfect at the hips and was so pretty. Wore this for my rehearsal dinner and everyone kept saying how beautiful it was!

Absolutely loved the way this dress looked and fit. Was able to have it shipped the week before my wedding as my original dress was delayed to be here before then. So I took a chance with RTR and it arrived in about 2-3 days. My husband loved it and i got so many compliments. Might have to rent out again. 

The front is very short and it's hard to move your arms but I felt truly amazing in it. 

I loved this dress and had people stopping me to compliment it!! I would have felt more comfortable in an 8 but RTR was out of that size. All in all, it was great! I did a modern take on Princess Leia for this Star Wars themed Gala. 

I'm 5'8 athletic body type and this dress was hooker short on me. I definitely needed the long, it was 3 inches off the ground. Beside that. Amazing. 

This dress is great! Something different than all the other formal dresses. However, it is not white!! It looks white in photos but it’s really cream/light taupe. It was the perfect length for a tall girl with heels but was really short in the front and hard to dance in because it rides up easily. Also had to wear just pasties with no bra. Other than that, I loved it and got lots of compliments! 

 The back flap covered my problem area (saddle bags) and I felt very confident and classy. The sheer panel in the front isn't too sheer, so it leaves a little to the imagination. I had SO many people ask where I got the dress and people were taking pictures of it. It was a touch tight in the tummy, so I had to suck in, but I did choose the 2R instead of the 4R, so part of that was my fault.

I loved this dress and it was perfecf for a black and white gala. That being said, the fit is really weird. I am a little over 5'5" and I could have easily worn it without heels. The front is also EXTREMELY short- like you need to be careful going up stairs or sitting down. I also couldn't lift my arms higher than my shoulders, and I definitely don't have super muscular shoulders or anything. So if you are bigger in the shoulders or arms, good luck with this one, same for if you have really long legs. But the flip side of this is that for me, the bust area was loose. I'm a 34C and wore an adhesive silicone "cleavage enhancer" from Target to fill out the top. Again, absolutely adored the dress and it stood out, tons and tons of compliments and I felt amazing, but there are definitely fit issues to be aware of.

This may be the most incredible dress ive ever worn! Rented it for a charity 'white party' and recieved endless compliments! I was glad i sized down after reading reviews, as the 4 was perfect. Sadly it had a small rip in the mesh panel, so i had to ho with the size 2. It was definitely a tighter squeeze than i'd have notmally worn, but still fit great. Best of all, i didnt have to wear a bra and just went eith breast petals. Cant recommend this highly enough!

Rented for my rehearsal dinner and was non stop compliments!! I️ felt amazing in the dress. Also so comfortable and easy to wear. Rented a 4 and it fit perfectly. I️ didn't wear spanx and I felt confident. I️ definitely recommend!!

Loved this dress! Only complaint I had is the top was too big for me but regardless I love the dress!

This dress was a HIT. It was a little bit small in the bust (but I am 34dd) and big in waist but very minor. Also, it's a no bra or backless bra sitch. Loved it. 

I wore this dress to my rehearsal dinner and felt awesome in it overall. Tons of compliments on the dress and also that my backside was looking real fly (true – if you like your butt, this dress hugs + drapes in a way that is suggestive but not too tight). I loved the open back, and didn't mind that the sides of the open back weren't a snug fit. BUT the looseness in the upper of the dress did look pretty saggy and ill-fitting in several photos where I wasn't standing at perfect posture. I'm flat-chested (like, fluffy pancakes) which doesn't stop me from wearing most things, but because you can't wear a bra in this dress (the sheer panel in the front was such that I opted out of a sticky bra), if your chest is modest, the front will not fit thaaaat well over your bust. 

As for comparative sizing, I noticed before renting that the reviews range from "runs small" to "true to size" to "runs large" which is really not helpful! I am a different size depending on the brand: JCrew / Anthropologie, I'm a 2... Barney's Co-Op type brands, Top Shop, Zara, I'm usually a 4. I ordered both, and wore the 2R – which fit like a glove from the hips down. Length was great on me. I'm 5'4" and wore 4.5" heels, and the hem was just off the ground.

I also agree with other reviewers that the armpits are kind of low on this dress. It didn't bother me as much as the fact that the sleeves, for their stretchy material, could be cut slimmer to be really snug over the lower arm. 
Also, the front of the dress is SHORT. I had to roll my spanx up (lol) to make sure they didn't peek out. And when you sit down, it rides up – so keep a napkin on your lap. 
While I wouldn't rent this dress again, I really enjoyed it for my rehearsal dinner, felt rad in it, and even though some of the photos of the dress are awkward, whatever – it was an amazing day and the dress did its job!

This dress runs extremely large, so size down 1 or 2 sizes. I recently tried on a strapless Halston satin cocktail dress w/ boning in the bust and the 0 was too tight around my rib cage and bust in that particular style. I'm wearing a 2R in this photo and am 5'6" wearing 2.5-3" heels.
I ordered a 2R as no 0 was available and even with my broad shoulders I was swimming in it. I wanted SO badly for this to work (I ordered 4 dresses and this was by far my favorite), but there was just no way it was going to work. 
I felt unbelievably beautiful, confident, and regal but not overdressed or too flashy. I can't recommend this dress enough if you're on the fence about what look you are going for. 


We co-hosted my college's all-athlete banquet. I'm skinny, so the 6L was a bit big in the waist for me. I would have gotten the 4L, but by the time I came to rent one, the site was out of stock. I loved that it still was long enough even with me having heels on. I was a bit uncomfortable in it because of the fit, but once I came out in it and heard the cheers from my peers, I felt great!

This was a wonderful dress I wore a 2R so it was a little seeing as I am 5'8" but it still worked even with heels! I loved this dress! I wish I could keep it!

I got a back up in a size up but I wish I got a back up in a size down just to see if the back could be tigger as I was pretty lose. But the size 2 was a close to perfect fit.

Sleeves were long enough but tight. I didn't realize the dress was backless, so last minute had to get some pasties. It might be worth looking into other options. I wore this dress with geometric black tights and black leather heels. Lovely dress. 

Rented to wear at my rehearsal dinner and could not have been more pleased! I got a ton of compliments on the dress and felt great wearing it! 

Runs a little big in the waist, but fit nicely in the chest. Beautiful material. Provides a classic yet sexy, city chic style. The dress received many compliments, and I would love to own this.

This dress went well with the shoot I was doing. It gave off that angelic vibe I was going for. The fit was fine. It wasn't as white as I thought it was going to be. More like light cream color but it wasn't a big deal. 

fits great. Length was perfect-- the front [high cut] does ride up-- be warned, but is manageable. 

Happy Halloween! May the Force be with you! I wanted to be Princess Leia, but without the cheap-looking expensive costume. So I went on Rent the Runway. This was perfect as it was authentic, unique and sexy. The 4 was a bit tight, so I wore the 6. Also, having the large slit in the front made it easy to walk around it. However, I am very short so I had to wear platform boots so I would not trip over the train.

This dress is actually one that Miranda Kerr wore to a red carpet.

    The open back and subtle mesh front is sexy yet classy. I wore this dress to my corporate Holiday Gala where I had no reservations taking pictures with our senior executives including our CEO.  The compliments were over flowing and I never once worried about running into someone else with the same dress. I could have wore a size 8  but the size was not available for the dates of my event. The dress is not a true white, it is more of an ivory for those who think they'll pull out a stark white dress, not sure if this is due to multiple rentals or if this is the actual color of the dress. The material is heavy and can get a little hot but it didn't stop me from hitting the dance floor and dropping it like it's hot. Ladies I'm a 34DDD THERE IS NOT A BRA THAT I COULD PURCHASE FOR THIS DRESS, I took tips from my girl Kim Kardashian and purchased Gaffers tape and tape those babies up, worked like a charm. I didn't wear a necklace (the mesh front is enough), subtle cat eye dark lip, and would have paired with statement earrings if I didn't slack.  First RTRW experience, it came early shipping, label included, and UPS already knew. Easy peasy.

I wore this dress to a design industry formal gala. The cut and the simple white color gave it a remarkably graphic feel, which was fitting. I felt stylish and sexy all night. While it ran true to size, I'm really glad I got the 4Long. The front part is seriously short. Like cover your lap with your napkin while seated kinda short. So hot, though. And the full coverage everywhere kept me warm enough, even on a 50-degree night.


The dress was warm enough to be worn to a January holiday party in Cincinnati ,Ohio. It was as described. I ordered the 2 and the 4 and went with the 4. The sleeves were small around the wrist and shoulders for both sizes .The back of the dress is quite long, so be prepared for that .  I wore control top panty hose and they did not show through. I wanted to experiment with other body shapers but did not have the time. I would reccomend the dress ! 

I wore this on the red carpet at an event, it totally stood out! It's classy lines and fun high-low cut is sexy but subtle. 

This dress was beautiful and is very different. I wish I went with the petite because the sleeves and length was a bit long on me. I was worried that the see through part on the front of the dress would show too much but it was perfect. I was unable to wear a bra so if you need support - I would not go with this dress. Overall it was great and I received tons of compliments! Thank you again RTR for making me look like I know what I am doing with this whole black tie thing :)

The fit was amazing! It is nice and roomy in the arms without it being too baggy. The dress also has a bit of weight to it. However, I have never received as many compliments in my life! Even strangers came up to me and said the dress was beautiful! It also won me the best dressed of prom 2016 award! Highly highly recommend! 

I typically wear a size 2 in pants and a size 4 in dresses. I have broad shoulders and a bigger bust. The 2L fit like a glove. I truly felt glamorous in this dress! I received so many compliments on it. The arms are a bit big. I am so happy that they send you two different dress sizes, as I would not normally order a 2. I read other people's reviews and decided that I might be able to swing it.  I plan to order another dress from renttherunway for my friend's upcoming Bachelorette Party. What a wonderful, easy, positive experience :) 

This wound up being my back up dress but I liked it so much I opted to wear it instead of the original dress. This is a very sexy yet elegant dress. I received a ton of compliments all night. It definitely stands out as being a very unique dress. It's form fitting so I definitely advise being comfortable wearing such a dress. The material is very soft so there is some wiggle room there too. Overall, I could not recommend this dress more for a formal occasion. 

Super comfortable. I had a lot of problems renting this dress. My order had been cancelled once before (the day before I needed the dress) which in turned caused me to have to reschedule photos. The second time around they did not have the size I requested so I went with a much larger size (which again I was not emailed until the night before I needed the dress).  

The dress was quite large on me--but if I had of had my size it would have fit better. Overall I love the dress and would certainly rent again.

Such a great decision to rent this edgy gown for a black tie gala - it stood out amongst all other black dresses so be prepared to be asked about it all night. Gals if you're not big up top (aka me), it will have some excess fabric floating around. It was only semi-unflattering in side view pics. Otherwise a perfect rental!
